What did you use to attract your audience?

First of all I set out a questionnaire to see what my facts were before I started to develop my magazine.
After using the information given to me I decided to use some eye-catching features to initially attract my audience, I aimed to use a large bold eye catching title/logo, and a large main image to attract the reader. although the colours for my magazine are dark and dull, the background lighting is very eyecatching.

The layouts of my article and contents pages are very neat and tidy, this will attract the audience to read these as it looks easier and more appealing.

I also researched a lot of eyen catching methods for a front cover and also researched successful magazine, I analysed these magazines and compared them. I saw that a lot of magazines such as 'Q' and 'Rolling stones' justify a lot of their text to a certain side of the contents/title page.

Q4: Who would be the audience for your product?

My target audience would be Males ages 17-21 but I would also like to target a female audience.

I have chosen this target audience because in my research I found that more successful indie magazines are purchased by males. Whereas if my magazine was a pop magazine, it would stereotypically be bought by females.

My age group is 17-21 as this is the age when teenagers begin to get part time jobs and more money to spend, after the age of 21 it is very stereotypical that this is when people may begin to get full time jobs, a flat/house, a car or more bills to pay. So within this age gap are teenagers with spare money but no monetary commitments, and therefore will be able to buy the magazine.

I have created a reader profile to help me relate to my target audience by seeing what sort of stuff they like outside of magazines, this will enable myself to use more colloquial language with the audience and push for certain advertisements.
